Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, visits Pentagon

Ban.ki.moon.Pentagon.jpg

Photo: American Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, left, escorts United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon into the Pentagon as Ban Ki-moon arrives for an honor cordon, Thursday, April 18, 2013.

Ban Ki-moon has very close ties with the American government.

He earned a Master of Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He further received an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from the University of Washington. He has been posted twice to the South Korean embassy in Washington, D.C. Between these two assignments he served as Director-General for American Affairs in 1990–1992. He was the foreign minister of South Korea from January 2004 to November 2006 and in February 2006, he began to campaign for the office of Secretary-General.

While he is continuously talking in a hypocrite way about the 'Syrian Civil War' and he continuously criticizes the Syrian government, he remains silent about the American en Saudi-Arabian arms deliveries to the so called 'Free Syrian Army' and Syrian terrorist groups. Yesterday a top commander of a foreign-backed group fighting against the Syrian government said he has received a 35-ton arms shipment from Saudi Arabia...

On March 23, 2011, the U.N. Security Council adopted a wide-ranging resolution recommending 'humanitarian' and military action inside Libya. Both U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa were assigned key roles in “coordinating” the implementation of the mandate. Just like now, Ban Ki-moon was calling for “an immediate end to violence by all parties'.  Just like now, he was talking about 'chemical weapons' and he called for a 'no-fly zone' which was just a pretext to bomb Lybia and to destroy the regime of Colonel Gadaffi. While the Lybian infrastructure was completely destroyed, he said the UN-mandated military operation was 'proving effective in protecting civilians'.

Recently Ban Ki-moon is echoing the Russian en Syrian proposes for a 'political dialogue' but at the same time he imposes unreasonable requirements that makes such a dialogue impossible. The current United States Secretary of State John Forbes Kerry, who expects a failure of political dialogue, said 'recent military gains by Assad's forces were only temporary'. So it is clear that the American government still hopes on a military intervention.

It is certainly not good for the credibility of the UN that its Secretary-General, as a friend to U.S. national interests in the United Nations, only advances U.S. and western-backed approaches in the Middle East, North Africa, and North Korea.

Political solution ?

'$10 billion arms deal with Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates'

April 18, 2013

WASHINGTON — The Defense Department is expected to finalize a $10 billion arms deal with Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates next week that will provide missiles, warplanes and troop transports.

A weeklong visit to the region by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel will culminate a year of secret negotiations on a deal that Congressional officials said will be second only to the $29.5 billion sale of F-15 aircraft to Saudi Arabia announced in 2010.

While one goal was to ensure that Israel continues to field the most capable armed forces in the region. It was equally important to improve the capabilities of two important Arab military partners.

The objective, one senior administration official said, was “not just to boost Israel’s capabilities, but also to boost the capabilities of our Persian Gulf partners and also provide a greater network of coordinated assets around the region to handle a range of contingencies.”

Under the agreement, each country would be allowed to purchase advanced armaments from American contractors. In the case of Israel, there is also substantial American financial assistance, topping $3 billion in military aid this fiscal year.

Israel would buy new missiles designed to take out an adversary’s air-defense radars, as well as advanced radars for its own warplanes, new refueling tanker planes and — in the first sale to any foreign military — the V-22 Osprey troop transport aircraft.

The United Arab Emirates would buy 26 F-16 warplanes, a package that could reach $5 billion alone, along with precision missiles that could be launched from those jets at distant ground targets. Saudi Arabia would buy the same class of advanced missile.

The expectation is that the arms sale, which was outlined to Congress on Thursday, will encounter little opposition from lawmakers, especially from members representing the many districts where defense contractors are concerned about the impact of cutbacks in the Pentagon’s own weapons budget.

Under the terms of the deal, Israel would be allowed to buy the tilt-rotor V-22 Osprey, an aircraft that can take off and land like a helicopter but fly with the speeds and range of an airplane. Israel could use the Osprey for patrolling its borders, coastline and out to sea, and for moving troops to troubled areas.

A new generation of KC-135 refueling tanker planes would let Israel’s warplanes stay in the air longer, an ability essential for any long-range mission — like a strike on Iran.

Israel also would receive antiradiation missiles. Launched from a warplane, they can home in on an adversary’s air-defense radar signals and destroy those sites. New, advanced radars for Israel’s military jets also would be in the package.

Administration officials declined to identify the new missile to be sold to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, except to say that it is an advanced class of precision “standoff munitions” — those designed to be launched from warplanes safely distant from ground targets. The missile would fit the 84 F-15s that Saudi Arabia is currently buying under the previous arms deal, and it would be carried by the 26 F-16s the United Arab Emirates would buy under the new one.

Officials said Israel was assured that use of the advanced missiles would be monitored by United States Air Force personnel who train alongside both the Saudi and emirates militaries, and that any deployment would occur only after consultation with the Americans.

During his coming trip to Israel, Mr. Hagel will move to finalize the arms deal with Mr. Barak’s successor, Moshe Yaalon. Mr. Hagel will finalize the deal with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in visits to the two countries later next week.

Ban ki moon: Peace Talks Syria

Ba.Ki.moon.Obama.Moamer Kadhafi.G8.leaders.2010.jpg

As a reminder:

'Ban Ki-moon's no fly-zone'

March 29, 2011

Just over a week ago, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki moon chartered a U.N. airplane to take him on a high-level diplomatic trip from Madrid to Paris, where French President Nikolas Sarkozy hosted a summit on Libya, a prelude to an allied air attack on forces loyal to Libyan leader Moammar Qaddafi, U.N. officials told Turtle Bay.

The U.N. plane had a reputation as a warhorse, having flown multiple humanitarian supply runs in Darfur, Sudan, and in other African trouble spots. But the U.N. aircraft was having a bad day.

The landing gear abruptly dropped down shortly after takeoff, forcing the plane to return to the airport in Madrid. The grounding of the U.N. secretary of general posed a political dilemma for the members of the anti-Qaddafi coalition, which had gone to great lengths to highlight the U.N.'s support for the air war. The Spanish government stepped in and loaned one of their planes to the U.N. chief so he could make the meeting on time.

Upon his arrival in Paris, Ban used the occasion to offer his support to the allied effort, urging the assembled leaders, which included U.S. Secretary of State Hillary R. Clinton, "to continue to act with speed and decision" to prevent Qaddafi's forces from continuing their military advance on the rebel stronghold of Benghazi. He also assured them that "the United Nations system will carry out" its own responsibilities in an effort to forge "a common, effective and timely response" to the crisis in Libya.

Apparently, his travel crew didn't get the message. The following day, a U.N. aircrew flew the same plane, with the landing gear supposedly fixed, back to Paris to fetch Ban and fly him to Cairo. Again, the landing gear dropped after takeoff, forcing Ban and his team to return to Paris. This time, Sarkozy-who had ordered French war-planes to attack Qaddafi's forces-loaned Ban a French government plane so he could get to Cairo.

Syria: 'Use of Chemical Weapons'

Vietnam.Agent.orange.victims.jpg

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, under the influence of western members of the Security Council, expanded the jurisdiction of the investigation committee in a letter directed to the Council without justification, attempting to make its mission extend to investigating all alleged cased of chemical weapons use in Syria.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said that the suggestion made by Ban Ki-moon to expand investigating the use of chemical weapons in Syria to cover all alleged cases rather than just investigate the March 19th incident in Aleppo is unconstructive.

The western colonial powers used almost in all their wars chemical weapons against innocent civilians.  This proves their hypocrisy again.

Agent Orange victims still need support

March 9, 2013

Nguyen Minh Y, director of external affairs for VAVA  (Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin):

Chemical warfare by the US in Vietnam from 1961-71 imposed huge damage on the country. The herbicide Agent Orange was sprayed over 30,000 villages, destroying forest and food supplies, and causing enormous environmental and economic destruction.

"Around 25% of South Vietnam was sprayed, with 2 million hectares of forest destroyed. Currently, there are 28 to 30 hotspots for dioxin contamination in Vietnam.

"There have also been devastating effects on the health of the Vietnamese people. The total number of victims is estimated to be at least 3 million.

"Agent Orange not only affected the people of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, but also soldiers from the US, and its allies, including Australia. But those most affected were the people of Vietnam."

Nguyen said the victims of AO have a range of immediate and long-term needs, including healing, housing, jobs, caring, treatment and rehabilitation, education and integration into the community. They need regular medication for deformities and mental problems.

"Chemical warfare, including the spraying of Agent Orange, is a serious violation of international law. The US, Australian and New Zealand governments have so far provided some limited compensation to their own veterans.

"Up to 2013, the US has reported to have spent some $40 million to clean-up of affected sites in Vietnam, but no one knows how the money is being spent.

Syria: western backed 'democrats'

----

Ban Ki-moon who condemned 'in the strongest terms' the terrorist bombings which took place in the city of Jaramana in Damascus Countryside, keeps silence about the U.S. and its allies who are responsible for the terrorist bombings and killings in Syria. His silence as Secretary General of the United Nations makes him complicit in these crimes.

Ki.Moon.obama-gadhafi.jpg

1) Obama signed a secret order authorizing U.S. support for Syrian terrorists seeking to depose Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his government.  Obama’s order, approved earlier this year and known as an intelligence “finding,” broadly permits the CIA and other U.S. agencies to provide support that could help the terrorists oust Assad.  C.I.A. officers are operating secretly in southern Turkey. The weapons, including automatic rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, ammunition and some antitank weapons, are being funneled mostly across the Turkish border by way of a shadowy network of intermediaries including Syria’s Muslim Brotherhood and paid for by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The United States is setting up joint military, intelligence and medical working teams with Israel, Turkey and Jordan.

2) British Foreign Secretary William Hague said Britain would step up its support for the armed groups in Syria, providing them with an additional £5 million (US$7.8 million). The money is used for terrorist bomb attacks and the undermining of Syria's government.

3) An official source told a SANA reporter that the seized arms included Nato sniper rifles, machineguns, hunting rifles, explosive devices of various weights, devices for remote control detonation and an amount of batteries and electrical wires.

4) The Belgian State Security "has not confirmed" the rumor that Belgian jihadists are fighting in Syria. The newspapers 'Het Belang van Limburg' and 'Gazet van Antwerpen' argued the opposite: "The State Security confirmed the presence of Belgian terrorists in Syria".  Originally the Flemish newspapers relied on a report by Reuters, dated July 31th 2012, citing statements from "several rebel commanders in the north-west Syria," according to which "Muslims in Great Britain, Belgium and the United States had joined the Free Syrian Army (SLA)". On July 13th, Reuters pointed out a flood "of thousands of assault rifles Belgian FN FAL was in the hands of the rebels".  In its annual reports, the Belgian State Security explains how and why she follows people attracted by fighting abroad: there was attention for Iraq, then, from 2010, to the movement towards Pakistan-Afghanistan border area; Finally, most recently, to new locations: "If the Afghan-Pakistan area, more than Iraq, was still popular in 2010 with the majority of volunteers for jihad", the Belgian State Security wrote in his latest report, "some of them began to plot their way to Yemen, Somalia and the Caucasus". And Syria now? "Obviously. Where they are beaten, those who return and who actually participated in the fighting have gained knowledge on how to handle weapons, strategy and tactics of war," noted the Belgian State Security yesterday. "This is the central reason for the Belgian concern".  Belgian Senator Nele Lijnen said that she intends to launch a discussion at the Belgian Senate regarding the fact that the terrorists in Syria possess weapons made in Belgium.

5) The Swiss Authorities announced that they are investigating into information published by Sonntags Zeitung newspaper about hand grenades used by armed terrorist groups in Syria.

6) The weapons and military equipment recently discovered and seized by the Syrian Army in Idlib province proves NATO's arms and logistic support for terrorists in Syria.

7) The seized weapons in Salqain district in Idlib included 7.26 guns along with other weapons as well as boxes of gunshots with the words "NATO BALL" carved on them.

8) The Lebanese army intelligence has seized a large quantity of wea Lutfallah II container pons hidden inside cars aboard an Italian ship at Tripoli port, north of Lebanon, Lebanese security sources told Al-Manar TV.

9) This comes just days after the Lebanese Army Marines confiscated Lutfallah II arms shipment off the Lebanese port of Batoun while it was carrying 300,000 pounds of weapons within three containers. Reports said the cargo ship, which was flying the flag of Sierra-Leone, had left Libya and was bound to Syria.

10) Lebanese terrorist Mohammad Hussein Fares confessed to participating in smuggling weapons, militants and journalists into Syria and committing terrorists acts against Syrians. Fares said that they smuggled assault rifles, RPG rounds, sniper rifles, LAW missiles, machineguns and cases of ammo, delivering them to Amoun, with al-Jarban coming later to distribute them among terrorists.

11) US, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are arming AL-QAEDA Terrorists to commit Terrorism in Syria

12) Over 30,000 various weapons have been channelled to Syria since unrest flared up there in April last year, Amin Khteit says. The overall amount of explosives makes up 300 tons. The deliveries were made by Qatar and Saudi Arabia. They depend on the United States, which is making every effort to overpower Syria.

13) The authorities seized weapons smuggled from Turkey in Tal Abyad area on the Syrian-Turkish borders in Raqqa countryside.

14) A Turkish parliamentarian has stressed that Turkish ambulances are transporting weapons to terrorist groups in Syria, expressing their opposition to Ankara's policies on the Syrian case.

15) Western News item - August 9, 2012: Sarkozy urges Libyan scenario in Syria. Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, the spearhead of last year’s campaign to oust Muammar Gaddafi, has called for rapid international action on Syria, comparing the current crisis with the situation in Libya. Sarkozy has spoken with the Syrian opposition leader, Abdulbaset Sieda, and both agreed there is a need for foreign intervention in Syria in order to stop the ongoing crisis, Reuters reports.
(Syria was a French Colony from 1918 to 1944)

16) Western
News item - August 11, 2012: US and Turkey to consider no-fly zones for Syria - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu are considering implementing no-fly zones for Syria after holding Saturday talks in Istanbul. According to Reuters, Clinton said that Ankara and Washington need to plan ways to assist the rebels fighting to topple President Bashar al-Assad – including possibly implementing a no-fly zone.

17) Western
News item - September 6, 2012: France has embarked on providing direct financial and arms aid to insurgent-held areas of Syria and is even supplying anti-aircraft weapons to terrorists fighting Syrian Army forces.  France has vowed an extra 5 million euros ($6.25 million) to help Syrian armed groups. France is considering supplying heavy artillery to the Syrian rebels. ( On November 15, 2012, France said 'it would float giving rebels defensive weapons' but in September 2012 it was already weapening anti-Syria-government groups. It is thus clear that the French government misleads the French people. Syria was a French Colony from 1918 to 1944...)

18) Western News item - November 13, 2012: France became the first European power to recognize Syria's new opposition coalition as the sole representative of its people and said it would look into arming rebels against President Bashar al-Assad once they form a government.
(Syria was a French Colony from 1918 to 1944)

19) Western
News item - November 21, 2012: UK joins France in supporting Syrian rebel coalition - British Foreign Secretary William Hague told members of parliament Tuesday that the National Coalition of the Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces was the "sole legitimate representative" of the Syrian people, calling it a "credible" alternative to al-Assad.

20) Western News item - November 28, 2012: NATO General-Secretary Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that NATO allies will respond positively to Turkey’s demand for Patriot missiles within “days” and that command of the system will be under NATO control.
“Russia has no right to intervene in this process. This is a NATO decision; third parties have nothing to say,” Rasmussen said about Russian objections to the deployment.
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli echoed Kılıçdaroğlu and calling on the government to inform Parliament on the missiles. “We wonder why Prime Minister Erdoğan abruptly requested Patriot missiles from NATO. Have Syrian missiles been directed to Turkey?

Syria: Ban Ki-moon is complicit in terrorist bombings

Obama23+Ban+Ki+Moon+UN+State+Lunche.jpgOn November 29, 2012, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon condemned 'in the strongest terms' the terrorist bombings which took place in the city of Jaramana in Damascus Countryside and claimed the lives of 34 people.

But at the same time he keeps silence about the U.S.-backed terrorism.

It is part of the UN comedy whereby also all the resolutions critical of Israel are blocked as the result of a deal between the U.S., Israel and the UN.

Ban Kin-moon and his staff mandated also a so called 'no-fly zone' and the NATO-bombing of Lybia. And on 31 October 2011 the Newsroom of NATO published the following distasteful 'victory' message: '''We answered the call'' - the end of Operation Unified Protector
'After seven months of operations at sea and in the air NATO has ended its mission for Libya. The Alliance’s job to protect civilians from the threat of attack is done. On his historic first visit on 31 October to the Libyan capital of Tripoli, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said he was proud of the part the Organization and its partners played in helping the country and the region'.

On September 4th, 2012, Ban Ki-moon said in remarks to the General Assembly on Syria at New York: 'The United Nations and its partners are doing all we can inside and outside of Syria. But we have to ask if we have done enough, and if we have done the right thing'.

Photo: Ban Ki-moon shaking hands with Barack Obama. It is a public secret that Ban Ki-moon, who has been posted twice to the Republic of Korea embassy in Washington, D.C. and served as Director-General for American Affairs in 1990–1992, is a very good personal friend of president Obama.

NEW YORK, (SANA) - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist bombings which took place in the city of Jaramana in Damascus Countryside and claimed the lives of 34 people.

"There are no circumstances that justify the targeting of civilians. Such terror attacks are unacceptable," said a statement issued by Ban’s spokesperson and reported by the UN news website on Wednesday.

The statement noted that this terrorist attack underscores the necessity of "moving urgently toward a peaceful political solution that meets the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people."

At least 34 people were martyred and 83 others were injured by two car bomb explosions which hit the Main Square in Jaramana, in addition to remnants in 10 medical covers.

Syrian News: Google Censorship

The website of the Syrian Arab News Agency SANA is regularly blocked by Washington that doesn't stop its war propaganda.

Some days ago SANA was inaccessible again: 'Page Web inaccessible - Unable to load web page on Google Chrome, because www.sana.sy did not respond in time. It is possible that the site is blocked or you have problems with your Internet connection - Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT)'

Google Research doesn't show actually SANA's website under the searching words 'latest news Syria'. The censure comes just after France and Britain recognized the so called 'Syrian oppossition', provided with money and weapons by the western countries.

The Internet search engines are in the hands of the U.S. government which doesn't want a political solution for Syria and doesn't stop its financial and military aid to terrorist groups in Turkey and Syria.

Try the following links to get the website of SANA and find what the western press conceals:

Who's is reponsible for terrorist acts in Syria ?

Obama.Ban+Ki+Moon+World+Leaders.jpg

The money is used for bomb attacks in Syria.

3) An official source told a SANA reporter that the seized arms included Nato sniper rifles, machineguns, hunting rifles, explosive devices of various weights, devices for remote control detonation and an amount of batteries and electrical wires.

4) Belgian Senator Nele Lijnen said that she intends to launch a discussion at the Belgian Senate regarding the fact that the terrorists in Syria possess weapons made in Belgium.

11) Fares said that they smuggled assault rifles, RPG rounds, sniper rifles, LAW missiles, machineguns and cases of ammo, delivering them to Amoun, with al-Jarban coming later to distribute them among terrorists.

12) US, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are arming AL-QAEDA Terrorists to commit Terrorism in Syria.

13) Over 30,000 various weapons have been channelled to Syria since unrest flared up there in April last year, Amin Khteit says. The overall amount of explosives makes up 300 tons. The deliveries were made by Qatar and Saudi Arabia. They depend on the United States, which is making every effort to overpower Syria.

14) The authorities seized weapons smuggled from Turkey in Tal Abyad area on the Syrian-Turkish borders in Raqqa countryside.

15) A Turkish parliamentarian has stressed that Turkish ambulances are transporting weapons to terrorist groups in Syria, expressing their opposition to Ankara's policies on the Syrian case.

Syria: Ban Ki-Moon's mediating role...

Afbeelding

Some days ago, Ban Ki-Moon called the UN Security Council for keeping a ‘flexible and effective presence of the UN in Syria', adding that this presence will help the UN envoy continue playing the 'mediating role'.

But there was little to see of the 'mediating role' of the UN in Libya.  The UN participated to the US war propaganda; accepted that NATO armed the Libyan 'Freedom-gangs' and mandated a so called 'no fly zone over Libya'.  It is on this way that Libya was bombed and destroyed.

Ban Ki Moon made also a deal with Obama about Palestine.  On the demand of Washington and Tel Aviv, all the resolutions within the UN Council critical of Israel, are blocked.
