Slovakia Says Won’t Support Lifting EU Arms Embargo on Syria
May 16, 2013
Slovakia said that it won’t support lifting the EU arms embargo on Syria, a measure sought by the UK and France which is intended to provide the armed opposition with weapons.
The Slovakian foreign ministry spokesman told SANA reporter in Prague that ”Slovakia will not back the lifting of the EU arms embargo on Syria at present, as it gives priority to the peaceful solution to the crisis through dialogue and negotiations.”
”The UN has much room for having a role in this regard,” the spokesman said. Austria had announced a similar stand on Tuesday.
