MOSCOW, (SANA)- Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Ilyas Umakhanov said Moscow's stance on the crisis in Syria is firm, stressing that Russia will not leave Syria alone in this ordeal.
"Russia's stance is that the Syrian people alone have the right to solve their problems without foreign interference," Umakhanov said during his meeting with Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi in Moscow Saturday.
He added that a solution to the crisis in Syria can be reached through the dialogue table.
He hailed the long history of cooperation and ties binding Russia and Syria that has never been broken, stressing that Moscow hopes that Syria reaches the path of peace and that bloodshed stops as soon as possible.
Al-Zoubi: American Hysteria on Chemical Weapons Prompted by teh Syrian Army's Successes
For his part, Information Minister al-Zoubi pointed out that the American hysteria that has been going on for days regarding the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government is prompted by the successes achieved by the Syrian Arab Army against the terrorists.
He noted that the primary structure of the armed opposition in Syria consists mainly of foreign mercenaries who have come to Syria not only from neighboring countries but also from Britain, Australia and France among others.
Al-Zoubi said that the Syrian government has information that the gunmen fighting on the Syrian ground have come from 29 countries, pointing out that more than 5000 gunmen have come from Yemen alone.
He added that the flow of foreign fighters to the country continuously increases, stressing that the foreign interference element through sending those gunmen is the main obstacle to finding a solution to the crisis.
The Minister said the Syrian side is interested in Russia's participation in the reconstruction process in Syria after the crisis comes to an end.
