Who most inspired you to stand up for what you believe in?
For me, it's my mom. During my childhood in Ohio, my single mom worked so hard to take care of me and my two brothers. All of my sense of social justice came from the realization that even though she worked enormously hard, she barely had enough to live on; she was always one step away from disaster. I knew that wasn't right.
Today, I'd like to tell her in a special way how much I appreciate all she did and how she shaped my life pursuit of social justice. So, in her honor, I've made a gift to Amnesty International.
We all have someone in our lives - someone very special like my mom - who helped shape who we are and who we aspire to be. This holiday season, I hope you'll join me and honor a friend or a loved one with a special gift to Amnesty. With your gift, they will receive a card from Amnesty International in your name that will express your respect, appreciation, or love.
Thank you so much for all that you do to support Amnesty - a Nobel Prize-winning organization - in our pursuit to prevent and end grave human rights abuses around the world.
Happy holidays to you and yours,
Amnesty International USA
